Because of the Anointing
By Bishop Keith A. Butler
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
Isaiah 10:27
The anointing is one of the terms used in the Scripture for healing power. It said that the yoke is destroyed because of the anointing. If that's true, if the yoke is destroyed, it didn't say it was moved away.
In the Scripture, the word yoke is used in three different ways in the Bible. The first way yoke is used is in the literal sense. In other words, before you got John Deere tractors, what they used to do is get two mules or two yoke of oxen, two oxen, and tie a yoke across their back, tie them together and put a cord behind them that they'd pull a plow.
The second way the Scripture uses the term yoke is in the figurative sense. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and you shall find rest unto your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Jesus is talking figuratively here. Jewish rabbis had a saying, when you put yourself under a leader. A rabbi is a teacher and you form a teacher/student relationship. When you become a rabbi's student, then you have taken upon yourself the yoke of the teacher.
If you understand that, then you'll understand what Jesus was saying. Jesus is saying, become My pupil. Become My student.
He said, Take my yoke upon you and learn of me... He's talking about the fact that if you become a student of His, become His pupil, sit at His feet and learn about what it is that He does and how He does it and the benefit of it, then His yoke is easy.
The Word of God is available and it's so simple that anyone can get it. A child can be born again. A child can receive the Word of God. In fact, it's easier for a child than adults in many cases because adults get their heads in the way and are concerned about what someone may have told them. Children just believe with the heart.
Obviously the burden that He's talking about is not being a student of Jesus. He's not talking about the figurative sense. There's a third way in which the term yoke is used in the Scripture. The yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
Brother Kenneth Copeland likes to say that it is the burden removing, yoke destroying power of God. Acts 10:38 says, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power. Who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.
The third way in which the word yoke is used in the Scripture is in a symbolic sense. Yoke in the Scripture is a symbol of burdens and oppression. Anything that is a burden and anything that oppresses is a yoke. This is beyond just sickness. Poverty is a burden and can bring about oppression. Fear can be a burden. Strife can be a burden. You name it you can list all kinds of things that could be considered burdensome and that would oppress people.
Referring to the Scripture, Jesus explains that sickness and disease is Satanic oppression and so is a whole lot of other things. However, the anointing destroys it.
In other words, you might be oppressed right now, but there is something that will destroy the oppression. It's called the power of God. It's called the anointing. It's called virtue. The yoke can be totally destroyed. It will be destroyed because of the anointing.
Prayer for Today
Father,
Thank You for the anointing that destroys yokes---yokes of sickness, financial distress, yokes of bondage. Your burden removing, yoke destroying power is made available to me. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen!
