Mission
Who helps those who have lost their way temporarily? Agape House was founded to be one of many organizations that can provide assistance and direction to those seeking an answer to this and many other questions. Providing guidance for women 18-22 years of age, Agape House is a transitional living home offering several services to its residences that will enable them to "get back on their feet," thereby causing them to become productive citizens of our global community.Agape House will forge relationships with other service and financial organizations that will support our mission. Agape House is a 501(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in the Southfield community as well as for those in its neighboring cities. The parent company for Agape House is The Word Foundation located in Southfield, Michigan.
Our Services
CRISIS CARE:
Upon acceptance to Agape House, residents will be assessed immediately to determine their immediate needs. Areas of need can include, but may not be limited to, providing food and clothing, legal assistance, medical assistance, counseling, and case management.
JOB TRAINING AND PREPAREDNESS:
Residents will receive job-training skills such as resume preparation, interpersonal skills, “dress for success” guidance, interviewing techniques, skills assessment, pre-employment preparation, care exploration, job location assistance, and personal coaching.
EDUCATION:
GED preparation will be provided to those residents in need of these services. Other educational services will include tutoring, college exploration, career counseling, computer workshops, and other education advancement support services.
RECREATION & EXERCISE PROGRAM:
Basic recreational activities will be planned for the residents such as board games and field trips. Exercise programs will include various physical exercises as well as health nutritional guidelines.
LIFE SKILLS:
This area will address the vaious needs as pertinent to the case management file for each resident. Such skills and programs may include parenting skills, conflict resolution, mentoring program, individualized counseling, and independent living skills.
